China Camp 2010!

We had an awesome Tulsa Trip last week! Dillon International hosts a China Heritage Camp each summer, and this is the first year that all three of our girls were old enough to attend. China Camp is a wonderful time to connect with many of our friends that have adopted from China, and most importantly it's an opportunity for our kids to have fun in an environment where they aren't the minority. They are surrounded by hundreds of kids and families that look just like them! The older kids have an opportunity to discuss issues they face as international adoptees, and Ashlie's class is already learning about the "W.I.S.E. Up" program, which give the girls tools to deal with the many questions and comments that they grow up hearing. (they can choose between Walk away, It's none of your beeswax, Share something, or Educate, depending on how they feel and depending on the tone and intention of the person asking the questions/making the comments) China Camp is just a great opportunity for our girls and we're appreciative of Dillon for giving them that opportunity.

This year during China Camp, some very dear friends were actually in China adopting their 5th child (their 3rd daughter from China). Congratulations friends!! So when we arrived in town, Matt and Martha opened their home to us to come enjoy a meal, good company, and an AWESOME opportunity to Skype with our friends in China! It was one of the highlights of our week!

When we were at breakfast on Friday morning of China Camp, Allie-bug bit into her piece of bacon and loosened her tooth so much that we had to pull it out completely for her to be able to finish eating. So Allie will always remember losing her very first tooth at China Camp! & yes, the tooth fairy found our room at the Radisson!
