We love Easter. Even tho' some things went awry this weekend, we still were able to spend precious time together as a family. Rick and I, Ricky, Adam, Ashlie, Allie and Annie were all able to go to church together this morning to celebrate, and once again the minister had a good message to share.
What went awry? Well, Ashlie woke up with a fever yesterday morning. Still not sure what caused it, but we prayed together that she would be well enough this morning for us all to go to church together and God answered that prayer! My parents had planned to come spend the afternoon with us, but my Dad got sick and we didn't get to see him. Get well soon, Dad, we missed you!! Allie woke up this morning around 5:30 crying from bad dreams. (She seems to be a bit stressed again, and we've had many episodes of crying during sleep.) She woke up Annie, who started screaming when she saw Mommy comforting Allie. The two of them woke up Ashlie and we knew that we could be in for a looooong day. Allie refused to have her picture taken in her Easter dress (btw, the pictures above were taken about a week ago, on a WARM day! This morning it was about 32 degrees out!)
In spite of all our little setbacks, we had a wonderful Easter. Ashlie felt well enough to help color eggs last night. LOL, Allie was actually having fun - she just clammed up for the camera! They were all thrilled with their Easter baskets this morning, which contained candy, pink and lime green binoculars and butterfly nets with pandas on them, 101 Dalmations movie and a big spill-proof bubble-bucket-for-three! Allie was ever-mindful that this was Annie's FIRST EASTER, and she leaned over to Annie when they were eating candy and said, "Annie, this is what Easter's ALL about." Ashlie quickly corrected her and said that Easter was about Jesus. Later, during the egg hunt, Allie leaned in to Annie again and said, "This is what Easter's ALL about!" Once again, Ashlie heard her and corrected her! I was hoping that Allie would give the same message, once again, while we were at CHURCH but she didn 't. LOL, maybe next year!!
Take a look at the Easter Bunny cake that my Mom made for the kids today! She did come up to deliver the cake and some BIG Easter baskets for the girls and they were thrilled with their loot!
We're all tired and happy tonight, and oh-so-thankful for our blessings.
Time to get our munchkins to bed now.
Happy Easter!
